MEET DENA
Dena Spanos, LMSW
Licensed Master Social Worker
I believe everyone deserves the chance to live as their most authentic self, and I’m here to help you tap into what that means for you. Therapy is not just about healing; it’s about connecting, growing, and discovering the deeper truths of who we are. We are made up of unique parts, all of which deserve to feel seen, heard, understood and celebrated. Together, we’ll navigate the complexities of your emotions, thoughts, and life experiences to find greater clarity and peace.
My approach is integrative and tailored to meet your individual needs. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based practices, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), we will find the most effective way forward for you. As a proponent of radical self and collective care, I incorporate advocacy and coaching techniques into my approach. My goal is to empower you to not only heal but to stand in your own power and advocate for your needs in every area of your life. I am here to gently hold and guide you through the spectrum of your emotions, whether they be fear, grief, uncertainty, or anything else that feels present for you.
While I have experience working with diverse populations and welcome in anyone who resonates with my approach, I especially invite plus-size individuals who are navigating fatphobia as well as body image and self-confidence concerns. My work is grounded in a non-diet, fat-positive philosophy, and I practice from a Health at Every Size (HAES) perspective to support clients in cultivating self-acceptance and holistic well-being.
Together, we will examine your pain and joy, develop deeper connections with yourself, and ultimately help you feel less alone. If you're ready to explore your authentic self and take some steps toward healing, I’m here to walk with you.
